I started my journey as an artist in the early 70s, when I studied and later taught Art.
I set out teaching Graphic Design. My students participated in and often won Art competitions. Some of their artwork were selected every year for an annual exhibition of the best 100 artworks by high school students, in what was then Transvaal. The exhibition was always held in the State Theatre in Pretoria, during the 70's and eighties.
Later I started teaching painting and started exhibiting my own wildlife paintings in soft pastel and in oils, some of which were bought locally from galleries and taken overseas to countries like America, England, Germany and Sweden.
I have been working as full time artist since 2017.
I believe colour has a very important role in art, determining the mood and ambience of a painting. I like to experiment with the play and contrast of shadow and light.
I've had work displayed in galleries in Pretoria and Johannesburg, participated in group exhibitions and exhibited at the Art Curator Gallery at the Lourensfoord Wine Estate in Somerset West, in November/December 2019.
